GroobyVR 2023 Discussion/thoughts/suggestions

There's really not a good spot to discuss GroobyVR, so I figured I'd make a post here. Any thoughts from anyone or is it just me that's subscribed?

Personally, I really enjoyed the Moe Scoville scenes released around April 2023 (Bella Bunny, Paige Turner, Nikki Sapphire). I thought it was a big step in the right direction for VR content and kind of brought them in line with other non-Trans studios. Insane casting with new girls and a lot of great directing with a lot of good positions for VR. Moe really has VR nailed, even if the new camera setup needs some work.

Personally, I think Grooby's casting is in a completely different league than the other Trans VR studios that are active, but I think their overall product is a few years behind anyone else in the VR market. Too many boring scenes (just a BJ and then Cowgirl), and then, personally again, the solo and brazilian scenes aren't for me. That equation makes the $40/month a tough pill to swallow, even if its something I ultimately want to, and do, support.

What are your thoughts? What would you like to see from the VR side of Grooby? What would make you a steady subscriber?

Thanks for the feedback and I agree with much of what you are saying, and I'll give a little context and also our plans for going forward.
We were one of the first companies on VR, and had a steep learning curve. The cameras were zcams and a rig had to be built for it. Those cams were not very moveable - and given the limitations of what can be done with VR for a porn settings, then most of the scenes are fairly static as you described.

We've recently invested in new Canon cameras/setup which is expensive, but we've invested in getting Buddy Wood, Radius Dark, Moe Scoville and Nikki Sequioia onto these rigs, as well as updating Frank in Thailand and Louie in Brazil We might be adding Kalin in the UK also, so overall you are looking at a $50k+ investment there.

The amount of people wanting to buy VR is quite small, so the price point of $40 is needed, it's only slightly more than sites like Tgirls.porn which update 1x a week with a hardcore. Any less than that and it becomes impossible to reach break-even, never mind putting in profit. But this is why we offer 3/6/12 months which bring the price down a lot.

So for 2023, what you're going to be looking at is the last of Buddy Woods on the old set up and as you've seen we've started migrating some other producers into GroobyVR.com

However, the original plan was to keep GroobyVR.com mainly Buddy Wood bolstered by the occassional Brazilian and Thai set, as well as the other producers if/when they get 'stars' to come in and shoot, and we're opening a second VR site within the next 2 months, TransVR which will focus on models who come from our wider range of sites, more first timers or girls who are exclusive to us, more fetish type content, more unique or interesting setups. We'll be trying to produce that at a little less than GroobyVR but we'll have to see. There should also be discounts for both sites taken at the same time as well as a per per scene option.

By doing this, it allows us to shoot and test many more girls and types of scenes in VR as well as keep those happy who are looking for more established stars, and to grow the VR part of our business as hopefully, the VR buyers increase.

Cool, I 100% get it. Just add POV missionary and doggy as a standard to your scenes and I'll be super happy. Please, this is basically standard at all other VR studios, even the amateur ones. The Moe scene with Bella Bunny is basically perfect for example. That is a great scene you should all be super proud of it and make more like it. This last month was bad, 1 for 4 on anything other than the BJ/CG. I'm not asking for hour long epic scenes with expensive sets or anything. Just please stop with the BJ/CG only videos (or adding doggy but only in non-pov like this Nikki North scene that just released. why would anyone do that?).

The new site sounds great, I'd love to see some of the girls (TG40, BBW, etc) in VR. There is not much chance of me paying for 2 VR sites of yours if you can't offer the basic quality on your main one though. If you guys start reliably making good VR videos (POV, fun non-solo foreplay for a little bit of a story/plot, more than one position), I'd be incredibly happy to pay you to see more. I would love more good VR scenes with your casting. I have no problem with the cost of the VR site and understand that its a niche within a niche, just make the scenes worth it for those of us paying, not the minimum. Your cameras are looking great, that's a good investment, but if you're filming stagnant and repetitive scenes with them that doesn't matter that much to me as a viewer. I'd rather see your old camera on a rig that you could easily move and make good scenes with.

Nobody is trying to film 'the minimum' but just like any scene we do, we're not working with professional actors - even within porn, the girls we work with have sometimes only shot 1-2 scenes (if we're not the first) so it' a case of getting the best we can get. Moving the cameras has it's own issues - and I've explained the issues with repetiveness of how to shoot VR, shooting trans VR has even more limitations that non-trans (less holes!) and only so many comfortable angles that are available to film in this style.

The site and content is doing very well - and feedback generally good - so while we're constantly striving to improve, it' is what it is within the limitations of VR.

I appreciate the candid response to my nagging, truly. I guess when it comes down to it, its porn, and I'm a cute butt fan who really, really, likes doggy style in the videos. That's just my personal preference though, not everyone's, and I understand that the VR site can't do that regularly. Hey, gotta advocate for what you want to see though, right? The last 3-4 Buddy Wood VR videos are out of focus and it sounds like he is accidentally using the low quality onboard camera mic instead of whatever microphone system your other directors are using. The audio is very tinny, there is a loud static/hiss, and it gets blown out with any volume from the actress. I figured he would sort it out after the first one but its been a month.

I just let my GroobyVR sub lapse because hes the main director there and I'm not a fan of his VR scenes. The new site has been great aside from the low quality BW scenes. Moe, RD, and Nikki are all excellent. I get that BW's style is the short cowgirl only scenes, but at least have them fix the basic camera and audio issues.

Edit: Bunch of more complaints about the new BW scene on the new site and whomever is running the site is just deleting any negative comments. Not cool. The complaints are a not the problem but a symptom of the problem.
