I agree whole heartedly! I also enjoyed Band of Brothers and The Pacific as well though he only served as Exec Producer.

I may have painted him with too broad of a brush.

I tend to keep my eye on folks like Woody Allen or Stephen King who never
seems to have people of color in their films. But I don't get the sense that is
not the case with Hanks.

I was wondering when you might make a post about the film I also saw it recently and I would say it is definately one of the better films I have seen for a while. A great story but the prolonged scenes of the protagonists teen years was a little too much for me.

I feel you, although I have found torrent sites to be much safer than usenet to be honest. I recently signed up to a newsgroup/usenet provider and found that because movies tend to packed into rars a lot of them have a virus inside the rar files. I use one torrent site in particular which, uses a collective of 'rippers' who will only upload DVD/HD quality rips to the site. This is to uphold quality but also to help thwart any takedown attempts by exploiting the betamax/lending case from the 70s as the site argues the DVD rips are 'lent' out to downloaders. If anyone interested in cinema and wants a link to the site then hit me up on PM (I'm a little hesitant to give it out on the forum as I see so many torrent sites disappearing as MPAA takes them down with lawsuit after lawsuit).

Actually many newsgroup posters are the same groups posting on the torrent sites. I follow specific groups that are well known and submit quality material. What keeps newsgroups legal, is that there isn't a direct give/receive between one pc to another like with peer-to-peer. Newgroups are more like throwing your trash out (poster's data) and somebody coming to the newsgroup (landfill) and picking up the trash (data).
