Uhh yeah so as soon as I said "We don't need no stinking threads" I realized all the awesome stuff we are talking about will dissipate into the ether very quickly at the pace we type. So here we are, doesn't matter what you talk about, hopefully just outside the typical Porn Box that the rest of forum delves in.

Let me know if you want any more. I certainly don't mind spreading this around. :D

As for Falling Skies, I hadn't planned on watching it, mainly because I don't have cable at home. But also because I've refused to watch the sci-fi channel ever since it started calling itself " syfy. " Only Mortal Kombat gets away with shit like that. - _-

Ha! I wanted to give up on the channel myself, and I DON'T watch tv, I watch shows from the net. However; shows, like Eureka, Warehouse 13, and hopefully Falling Skies, will continue to grab my attention. By the way, have you been watching the Mortal Kombat live action series that has been airing in webisode form?

No I haven't seen it. I actually just found out about it recently but don't know where to watch it. I remember seeing the trailer for the would be movie a long while back and wondering why the hell it wasn't already on it's way to theaters. I did however watch the first movie a couple of weeks ago though... classic.

Indeed, I enjoy the original as well. Hmmm, do you use Dropbox? They are very short webisodes averaging 10mins so relatively small files.

Ah, I see. I usually get everything I wanna watch or read off of Demonoid. Which is how I was able to spend 4 hours watching Police Story 1 and 2 a few weeks ago. It was worth not having a job to be able to do that.

Would you have the episodes on drop box?

Ha ha! It's funny to see how happy you are to talk about something other than porn. ( Not that I can't see where you're coming from. Even I get tired of it... don't tell anyone. O_o )

I can't say the same about Planet of the Apes though. I watched the one with Mark Wahlberg and that was just awful. Also I tend to look at Spider-Man 3 whenever I think of James Franco... and no... dammit, no. Not to mention he reminds me of the copy of Deuces Wild I lost... - __-

Yeah Marky Mark did drop the ball, but I have hope, and what can I say I'm an 80's baby, I grew up with Planet of the Apes for better or worse I have a soft spot for the universe.

I agree, for sometime Franco always brought to mind Spiderman, but after watching him and Sean Penn in Milk, and Howl (I thought it was a werewolf movie at first lol) I grew a new appreciation.

I normally like Mark Wahlberg in movies but there are cases where his presence helped nothing. For instance The Happening. I wish that movie had never been happening. It was terrible. " Oh my god! Trees!! " Seriously? Have we run out of blood thirsty monsters to the point where we're running from trees?

I haven't seen either of those movies. But I probably would've thought Howl was a werewolf movie too if you hadn't said other wise. It's been a while since I actually don't remember what the last movie I went to see in theaters was...

hmmm you may not fear trees, but should respect them, for without them none of us can exist.

Yeah, I'm split on The Happening, as I love the Deschanel family of actresses (especially Emily, Bones anyone!) so I was biased into liking the movie. I actually read a paper years ago concerning a particularly nasty virus that causes self mutilation when it breaks the blood/brain barrier, so the movie reminded me of that. It seems that after Unbreakable, Shyamalan went straight downhill...

Don't get me wrong, I love trees. I mean what's better than a shade covered picnic in the park after all... But when I'm watching a movie that's supposed to thrill me, seeing people run from something that's firmly rooted into the ground is not my idea of a good time. Well it kind of is because they look so stupid but other than that, no.

And yeah, my friend pointed out that any good movies he's made ( 2 ) have Bruce Willis in them. So maybe he oughta think about working with him again. And yet at the same time I can't get mad at M. Knight Sh..shyamma... sh... Him... ( Schyamalan yes? ) because he's making millions off these bad movies. And people let him.

Yeah I'd have to say behind all the blatant racism he's still a damn good actor. Hell I'll watch Mad Max and Road Warrior no matter how much he blames the Jews for the world's problems. But I thought that was a pretty horrible movie. I mean, considering that the main element of water is in the oxygen we breathe... not to mention the Earth being 70% water... If you're smart enough to travel worlds you should be smart enough to figure out whether or not said world will bring you to a brutal end. But hey, I've never traveled through space, I just watched the Power Rangers do it. So what do I know. >_>

Yeah big fan of Mad Max, hear that's getting a reboot too *sighs* The way I see it, if people can forgive Disney questionable history of antisemitic views, which I consider more of an offender than Gibson, then why not him too eh.

You know... Zack was missing a middle finger on one of his hands... I think it was the right one. I'd never have known if I hadn't read it and gone back to look.

A reboot of Mad Max may actually be alright, given that if anything is done right in movies these days it's action. The real threat however is that they'll cast some pretty boy actor who couldn't survive a post apocalyptic world beyond wetting himself and me taking all of his shit before booting him out of a moving vehicle.

I'm waiting for the next season of Dexter. Can't wait to see who they'll cast opposite of him this time. Between Jimmy Smits and Johnny Lee Miller ( Don't know if you saw Hackers... ) I'd like to see who else they can get for this show.

Totally did not know about that, until a friend mentioned it a while back lol

Hollywood doing action right... *glances toward Sucker Punch* Well, I guess they can't do it right all of the time. lol j/k

Haven't seen Hackers?!? Have you forgotten whom you are speaking to! lol :p I love that movie, fell in love with Angelina Jolie on account of that movie.

I had my reservations about Mr Smits, but I enjoyed his character. Wouldn't have consider myself a fan of his work until Dexter. Gave that lawyer show he had a watch to see if I'd still like him, but it got canceled before I could decide lol

The thing was I heard the action in Sucker Punch was the only good thing about it. It was actually the main reference I was basing my point on. But I haven't seen it myself and my friends are more prone to being taken in by school girl outfits than me so... Who can say. I'll take Police Story over that movie any day though.

I figured you probably saw it but there are still people who haven't seen The Dark Knight so I leave nothing to chance. It's like not seeing Rocky and calling yourself American... Don't. - _-

I was a little iffy about him as well, but he really played that character to a tee. Particularly in the final few moments when he finds out about his brother. His reaction is something me and my friends imitate to this day. XD

The action sequences and outfits were 'cool' but that hardly makes it a good action movie, it was decent I guess. Put it this way, I was glad I didn't go see it in theaters, and action and horror movies are all I feel are worthy of theater experience. To be honest, the highlight for me, was the score. I paid more attention to the song credits "pause, put in slow motion" at end of movie than any particular scene. :p

Did watch a movie yesterday, most probably skipped. Sinners and Saints, now that was a good action movie, and no CGI.

Ha, I don't remember the reaction off hand, but will pop in the disc either tonight or tomorrow and see what I've forgotten. Actually, may just go ahead and do a marathon of the entire last season.

That sounds like a lot of movies these days, which is a big part of why I don't go to theaters anymore. ( Also I'm broke. That helps... ) I think The Dark Knight may have been the last movie I saw in theaters... That definitely felt worth the price of admission and the money I spent on popcorn that I didn't want...

A lot of good movies get looked over for movies with big hollywood names. Unfortunately I can't think of any at the moment... But I think old school Kung-Fu films are amongst today's most under rated film genres.

That is exactly what you should do! I would if I could.

On another note, I just passed the scene where Johnny cage beats the shit out of the security guards and the producers. I was laughing the entire time. Why would you hire security guards less skilled than the guy you may need removed?

Thanos is a guy that was actually rejected by death... he can't die... The Omega Beams would be absolutely useless. Darkseid is strong sure, but he's clearly not invincible. Hell he couldn't deal with Doomsday at all. But Thanos undoubtedly could. I'm gonna go with Thanos.

And Sinestro is hands down one of DC's most vile and powerful villains. Booster Gold is becoming more capable but he's still nowhere near that level of experience or ruthlessness. I mean, just look at when Sinestro took his ring off and went fisticuffs with Kyle Rayner... and beat his ass. - _- The guy's got it all.

I was thinking the same thing. Darkseid wants to conquer shit, thanos wants to destroy shit. Edge to thanos imo.

Booster theoretically has history and technology on his side. If written right I think he'd give sinestro some run.

Yeah, pretty much. Not to mention those pesky infinity gyms that he uses to beat the hell out of you in Marvel Super Heroes...

I don't know how much the history books would have on Sinestro though. The earth ones that is. Plus that yellow light is a real doozy. I was a little upset when all the yellow rings started flying out and Batman didn't take his. I thought he'd make a great yellow lantern. ( sort of. )

Ah man...

While I'm sure it took a bit of time to put these types of clips together and it is neat, I don't much care for them. Actually represents part of the side of YouTube I have come to despise. Along with lip-synch vids, opinion pieces by the uneducated, jack-ass type clips, etc I can do without that stuff. Basically everything unoriginal on Youtube. The How To videos are cool, some opinion videos, original music videos, etc

The only time I ever visit youtube, personally, is when someone sends me a link. The concept of YouTube was good, but I don't care for the gross amount of shit, to sift through.

I never saw that one. I was gonna look it up but never got around to it. I don't watch a lot of anime anyhow. I read plenty of manga but somehow I feel like if I watch anime I'll get roped in with that crowd of people that thinks everything about Japan is so sparkly and wonderful and everyone has a robot... Ugh...

Ms. Remmy I had a question for you. Seems like you are pretty rooted in hard science. I was wondering why you describe yourself as a transsexual lesbian? This isn't about right or wrong, I just wanted to know how you arrived at the label. My rational mind says genetically transsexual = man. Transsexual + transsexual = man + man in pure science. Is it that you are giving more credit to social/pyschological science than physical science?

I describe myself that way because that is what I like. :p I'm no more attracted to 'men' than a GG (Genetic Girl) Lesbian or a straight man like yourself. One's gender does not necessarily reflect their sexual orientation, otherwise we would not have gay/lesbian/trans in the first place. ;) It took a long time for Harry Benjamin's Standards of Care to recognize that, but thankfully the suits came to their logical senses.

I'm very nearly a feminist, I find few redeeming qualities in men, and have no expectations of any man providing a healthy, faithful relationship with a trans-girl. There is a very small percentage of trans girls that have healthy, happy, long lasting (5+ years) relationships with men. One is usually cheating on the other and they just pretend like nothing happens until it's thrown in their face. Not to say there aren't some genuine good guys out there, but I'm not attracted to them AT ALL, and have precious little interest in wasting my time sifting through the crap to find a decent one.

lol Don't take it personal, just one less person to waste one's breath 'hollering' at. I think it's one of my 'coolest' attributes, being lesbian, as most girls may not really like you, but will sit in your face and act otherwise for whatever perceived benefits they may get out of it. I won't ever use, trick, or otherwise rely upon a man for anything. I always say upfront, "nothing is going to happen"... I think that just makes them try that much harder, like them acting even more like a typical 'man' is really going to win me over.

If I see that movie it'll likely be by accident. Pretty soon I'm just gonna start sticking to foreign films and independent stuff. Since I feel like I could beat the hell out of him any given day of the week. I do like him as an actor. Just not as an action actor. No comment on Cameron Diaz. >.>

Love foreign and independent films, I see reading subtitles as a plus in cinema, I'm more, engaged perhaps. lol Foreign cinema tends to focus more on the art of cinematography, and exposition, creating complex dramas that bring you into the lives of the characters. Saw that Bangkok Dangerous remake, poor Nicolas Cage, they are doing post production already on the Ghost Rider sequel. I've been a fan of his since Raising Arizona, Peggy Sue Got Married, and Fast Time At Ridgemont High, but he has had a fair few movies that were duds. Guess it pays to be part of the Coppola family :)

I loved The Weatherman, Con Air was a movie I could watch again despite his role... that accent was ridiculous... And there are other movies I've seen him in that I can't quite remember that I'm sure I didn't hate. But he has the face of someone who look very uneasy in a black neighborhood so the action movies just don't sell me. I'm pretty sure Rambo would walk in and out of the ghetto unscathed. - __-

I remember back when I was getting into foreign stuff I used to watch a series called Hideyoshi based on the emperor. It was subtitled and my cousin would always complain about me watching it. Never understood why people complain about reading while watching things. I don't even like watching TV without close captioning most of the time.

I can respect that. Just a few more questions though. As one who formerly identified as a man, and who was born a man, when you speak so lowly of the character of men do you include yourself and other ts in that classification? Or are transwomen given the benefit of the doubt in your book?

I don't know any trans women personally but I have read and interacted with a few online. Some will say things like "don't try to run game because I still have a dick too", which to me indicates that in some way they still classify or identify as men in that regard. Hell even the title transwoman suggest that they choose to identify as one gender over another (and not simply as transgendered).

Its all very interesting to me.

No, I do not include ts in the classification of men. Ts, are inherently more complex, especially factoring in proper HRT, or lack thereof.

That is a very general statement that can mean different things, and context is everything, so I don't get your assumption that they "..still classify or identify as men..." from it.

General question for any of the ladies. Why isn't this forum more popular with black transsexuals?

I think this forum is designed more for the members/admirers of the Black Tgirls porn site, not the Black Transsexual community in general. Probably safe to say that the majority of Black transsexuals don't spend their days on any specific porn site forum. So, if black tgirls aren't interested in fapping to black tgirl porn (many prefer gay porn), there are few reasons for them to ever come here. Of course, models/escorts will have more of an interest as the viewers here are their target market.

What makes forums like black gay chat, more appealling than this? is that interactions with dudes on this site viewed as potential clients while interactions with dudes on bgc are viewed as potential boo's or fuck buddies?

Perhaps, it is that BGC is supposed to be a place for people of color in the LGBT community to socialize, and discuss the wide variety of issues that members of the LGBT community face. Again, lets say you have 10 black transsexuals and 10 black gay men, none of which are sexually aroused by images of Black Transsexuals. They are naturally going to go to a social site like BGC to sit around and chat over any particular porn site.

Anyone keeping up with the awesome HBO show Game of Thrones?

After watching this first season, I have to go and pick up the book series. It is a fantastic show! Every episode there was something that blew me away and left me wondering what the next episode would bring. While watching the latest episode last night those last moments left me with the "Oh shit I can't wait to see what next week brings". Went online to a forum for the show and saw that damn, that was the season finale. Damn great way to end it out, but it's going to be a long wait for the next season.

So what are the highlights you like/dislike from the show?

The Golden Crown that adorns Viserys was a particular scene that stands out. Reminded me of an Anne Rice novel, Servant of the Bones, about a genii.

Poor Ned Stark, I'm a fan of the actor Sean Bean, and the character in the show was great too. Sad to see his demise, but the way he went out, again left me hankering for more!

I certainly favor zombies myself, but there isn't that much quality zombie material to keep me entertained all year round. Sadly zombie entertainment is mainly limited to movies and video games. I guess it is kind of hard to revolve a series around things that really aren't going to grow as characters. Which is really where The Walking Dead succeeds, because it focuses more on the " what will the survivors do " element. I saw that movie around last year or so. A on and off friend of mine showed it to us. We kept laughing about how the one guy beats the zombie to death screaming about how he's Nigerian.

Also I once said Jesus was a zombie... But I also said that if Jesus had come back to life with the ability to shoot lasers from his eyes like Dinobot, I'd actually bother with some belief.

I came up with the theory that Santa Claus was actually the immortal vampire Dio, who could also stop time. And around the same time I came up with this theory a famous artist had actually drawn a picture of him dressed as such. Coincidence? I doubt it.

lol I think it was good, for me to experience Catholicism for what it is worth. Helped solidify my distrust in any religion and that Agnostics are the only ones with a clue. Everyone else is delusional and praying to NOT have to deal with reality. I totally understand the allure of religion, and if it makes you a better person, more power to you. It's a story of a boy who is 'haunted'. They actually deal a bit with astral projection and such which I thought was neat. Again, wasn't really scary, but still better than the recent crop of paranormal movies. Last 'scary' movie I can recall was probably The Exorcism of Emily Rose.

Yeah that's pretty much how I look at it. Frankly I could care less about the existence of god. But whether or not there is one, I have no belief in it. It's not mysticism that accomplishes what I work for. And I've never cared for people being nice solely because they think there's an end in it for them. Personally I hate being nice, but I still do it.

I see. These days scary movies are a joke. But I guess when you grow up watching that kind of thing this new stuff just doesn't phase you. I tried watching Candyman not long ago, a movie that had me scared to go in a certain part of my apartment for an entire summer when I was a kid. It was more depressing than frightening. Like good god man, chick flicks aren't that fucking depressing... On the plus side, I no longer find Tony Todd to be the creepiest son of a bitch I ever laid eyes on.

I didn't hate the 2nd movie, it was just out of line with what I was expecting. Which was a remake of the 2nd Halloween movie. It was definitely not that. I did however find it interesting that it showed what happened to the characters who survived the first movie and how they were dealing with the effects of everything. But... if I wanna bad mouth Rob Zombie... well I will... 'cause I'm fairly sure I can outrun you at the very least. :p

I'm a huge Clive Barker fan, please, check out The Midnight Meat Train. You will not be disappointed. I loved Candyman back in the day, and it certainly gave me chills though I doubt it would still have that effect today.

haha I'm like all the great horror villains, no need to run, when you turn around to see if I'm still following, I will be in front of you as you turn back to refocus on running. ;)

Ah, so you are more along the lines of an Atheist, in not believing in a God at all. I do believe in a God, just not one that cares about the 'religions' man creates. All living things return to Gia (God's Grace).

In order to drive across how little I care about religion, what I am has been given no title. My main focus is apathy towards all deities that may come into question. I am living and will one day likely die. ( My track record for not dying is kind of solid... ) What happens before or after will matter to me when they become now.

It sounds like you've chased people before... o _o In any case I found much of Clive Barker's work to be entertaining as I grew up. Although honestly at this point I couldn't tell you what most of those things were. Stephen King is another guilty party of frightening me during childhood only for me to later realize just how stupid that shit is later on... IT was one of the scariest fucking things I'd see when I was a kid. So I sat through it when I was about 18 or so... I was so pissed that I'd ever been scared of that... I still am. I might go fuck a clown up on principle... - _-

I had a friend mention Dark Tower to me before but never got into it. I might check out some of the comics since they've been appearing on Demonoid.

Was just talking about the 'scariness" of Stephen King books the other day. Only book that really gave me chills was Bag of Bones. Going to sleep when you heart is racing from every moving shadow or creaking floor board is, interesting. I like both Stephen King and Clive Barker more cause their tales are weird and easily lure you into their worlds.

A lot of the times I feel a lot like the current Scarecrow... nothing scares me. The most I can get is a slight startle from a loud sound I didn't expect. but nothing that really gets my heart pumping beyond all human possibilities. It's become somewhat annoying. Good question, to which the answer is both. In the similar vein of my switching from banks to credit unions years ago, I also found Newsgroups to be better (for me) than p2p sites. They are similar and yet different in key ways. I find torrents (p2p) to be not worth the risk of exposure to viruses. I value my electronic devices and don't want viruses anywhere near them. ;) While the risk is still there with Newsgroups, it's not nearly as bad, in my opinion. To the point that, I've been using Newsgroups for around 5 years now, and have yet to ever have a virus.

Many ISP, use to offer some basic free access to Newsgroups. I'm a Cox subscriber and can say their East Coast operations recently shut down the free service. This didn't factor for me at all, as I actually pay a monthly fee for my access to Newsgroups. That does settle my 'moral' issues with the content I'm 'picking up from the ether'. Also, when I was introduced to Newsgroups it was described as digital trash bin. If you throw away a dvd and someone else picks it up and watches, that's not stealing, it's recycling. :) These studios couldn't charge you with piracy cause you aren't giving it away to anyone specifically (like with p2p), you are just, putting it out there.

I see. That actually makes a lot of sense. Although I'm still going to go about it my way ( due to the fact that I have no steady income. ) But were I to have a job, I might be more inclined to hit a newsgroup if just for the sake of keeping the FBI out of my hair... I've had at least two friends get notices from them for downloading things like roms and movies. It hasn't happened to me but if it did I'd probably be more cautious.

I agree and have also subscribed to a newsgroup provider. I have used newsgroups for years before but that was when ISPs allowed free access but most have now ceased that service or have very poor retention services. It is surprisingly cheap to subscribe nowadays costing an average of $10 per month for an unlimited service. Most providers will now guarantee around 1000 days retention so you have a pretty much endless amount of files to download. I also understand with various laws and MPAA searches torrents are becoming less and less viable and for the time being the SSL security offered by newsgroup/usenet providers allows for secure downloading which, would make it more difficult for authorities to track what you actually download.

My only issue with usenet at the moment, is its growing popularity. This has led to various password protected uploads which, lead you to a ad-ridden website that pretends to reveal the password to your file if you fill in 10 million surveys. :-/ Also you do tend to get a lot of movies dubbed in german or with hard coded dutch subtitles - this is especially annoying because the only good rip of Twin Peaks I can find has Dutch subs all over it :(

As you love your newsgroups too Ms Remy I have PM'ed you a few tools that might help you locate movies on usenet (apologies if you already know of/use them) :D

Yes, I agree, the popularity has been an itching feeling in my side. I have a thing about not liking to do what everyone else is doing. For a while, mainly last couple years, password files were a big problem, but I eventually found a few different posters that rarely if ever use passwords, and I just f5 their pages to keep updated with media. Mostly it's just the subs that are protected. I never try to get those passwords, and would advise not to bother either, those surveys and such are suspect. Movies have been hit or miss at times, with the gluttony of German releases spewing out. Had a hard time finding the Human Centipede, but eventually did *gross* :o The R5's continue to come in at a decent pace though, which movies are hit and miss. I have resigned myself to waiting for the DVD retail release and then grabbing those. Insidious being my most recent R5 grab :)

I do tv series collection as well, and I can usually get away with only 1-2 episodes having the hard-codes. What I despise most, is missing an episode out of a whole series, so I take the hard-codes as the lesser of two evils, especially if it'll complete the series so I can burn off to a disc for archives.

I'm all for shemes.com freeware Grabit, and binsearch.info combo of tools. Only problem with that setup is that finding comics can be a little more difficult than any other media type.

Oh, I completely missed your question about Yakuza related media. Good thing I scrolled down. But to answer your questions yes. Jingi Naki Tatakai or Battles Without Honor and Humanity is without a doubt some of the finest set of Yakuza films one can find. They were made during the 70's and start out in Post World War II Japan when shit was really bad. It's raw and gritty. And while I'm no Yakuza I think it captures the worse side of the groups, betrayal, greed and a total lack of honor. All of these things fading away with the passing of time into a new era where the only thing one honors is money and not his brothers. I can go on like this for some time so I'll stop here. >_> Except to say that the 1st two movies Battles Without Honor and Humanity and Deadly Fight in Hiroshima are my favorites.

Another Yakuza film I watch often is Brother, which is an East meets West styled film. Probably my first real look into the Yakuza culture.

I'm a cinephile as well, also love foreign and independent films and reading
sub-titles and closed captioning.

Demonoid is cool as p2p goes, and I like Newsgroups and IRC for various
interests I have.

However, neither really works for my most of my video needs as my true love
is cinema verite, film noir, and old B & W movies.

For that, I have a Hauppauge HD PVR http://www.hauppauge.com/site/products /data
_hdpvr.html which records component video (YCrCb) and utilizes the "analog hole",
as well as a couple of DVRs.

The recording format is AVCHD, which can be used to burn Blu-ray DVD,
or I can burn regular DVDs.

Had a ton of videotapes, but had to get rid of them because between the
books, magazines, computers, and electronics, there was getting to be no
place for me in my home. That and the fact of video tape degradation, and
they just don't look as good as digital media.

Most people say that they mostly will watch a movie once, and that's it
for the movie. Me, I archive the movies, and there are many movies that I
watch over, and over from time to time.

Same for my music, when I tell folks that I have 10s of thousands of songs
on my Ipod (which is a fraction of my total music; .mp3, .ogg, .aac, .wav,
cds, vinyl, cassettes, and music I have created) they look at me askance.

And no, I am not the "Queen of all media".

I actually always watch my movies twice before burning to archived disc. Aside from playing for a new viewer I tend to let a good 6 months or more go by before returning to a particular film to allow for better appreciation. I do also read my books multiple times.

I'm not a fan either, spent time with some that enjoy her show and reality shows. Felt like my IQ was diminishing with every minute spent watching such drivel.

I could spend 2 weeks watching the same set of movies over and over again. Particularly with the tapes I have that have 2 or more movies recorded on them. I can't count the amount of times I've watch New Jack City --> Snatch, Lock, Stock And Two Smoking Barrels ---> Trainspotting, or Beijing Bicycle ---> Kikujiro. Which is why I seriously do not wanna get rid of my tapes. Not to mention the whole lot that I got from my grandma when she passed. She had a major collection of stuff, including the entire Roots series.

Every time I hear Wendy Williams speak, it's like being given instant but temporary rabies. It's offensive to all senses and angers me. Yes that's right, ALL senses! I can actually taste the irritation! As for BET, if that is what's meant to entertain black people, I officially hand in my resignation.

D'oh! I changed certain aspects of my post so as not to offend the black community but indeed, that is one channel I never want to land on. The Game is the only show that I've walked away saying "Oh, well that wasn't so bad after all." Gave up on 106 & Park when Free left.

Remy, I'm glad that you like the Hauppauge HD PVR 1212
http://www.hauppauge.com/site/products/data_hdpvr.html

It is the "bee's knee", and the "cat's pajamas", it is so cool that I am
tempted to buy a second one. I have always been a fan of the Hauppauge
video capture cards / devices. There are of course other devices that can
capture video, but few can capture HD.

And that was the problem for me with video tape, Cosmic Traveler. Once I
went HD, the visual quality just wasn't there. I too used to copy two or
three movies to a video tape, and yes copying one movie per tape would
have yielded better quality.

Back when I had a 32 inch CRT the video tapes would look decent, but once
I made the switch to LCD, plasma, or projection, the quality just wasn't
there.

Remy, it tends to be 6 months to a year or more before I may re-watch a
movie. But it is very nice to be able to go to your archives, and watch
something that you are in the mood for.

And even with the over 500 channels that I have on cable, and movies that
I can pull up on demand, it's great to be able to watch what I want to
watch, when I want to watch it.

I primarily watch premium cable HBO, Cinemax, Showtime, TCM for those old
movies I mentioned, though of course NatGeo, History, Discovery, PBS and
the like are in my favorites listings. Out of 500 or more channels, I have
roughly 90 channels as favorites.

And not to be an elitist, but I can't think of any reality show that I regularly
watch. As you mentioned, I feel like there are cells atrophying and dying
in my brain. As it is i may have the TV on more for company, as I am on the
computer or other-wise multi-tasking.

Bottom line, I blame reality TV on the writers strike of 2008. The networks
had learned and prepared for strikes after previous strikes, and weren't going
to be caught with their pants down again.

As to BET, I'm now more of the TvOne demographic, when it's time to "get my
Black on". And I haven't watched 106th and Park much since Free and AJ.
The two vjs they have on there now are kind of irritating to me. They're nice
enough people, but they just don't do it for me.

About the only BET I may watch is Bobby Jones Gospel, and "The Game".
I like the interpersonal dynamics of "Tasha Mack", and "Med School".

You may also want to consider the Hauppauge Colossus PCI Express Internal
HD-PVR TV Tuners & Video Capture 01414.
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B004OVE2B4

It has a HDMI input, in addition to it's component inpiut. The HDMI input
will only allow recording HD from a un-encrypted HDMI video source such as the
Xbox360, video or digital SLR cameras.

So you would still need to use the component input, if you wanted to record
from your cable box or satellite dish, using the "analog hole".

Yeah I'd have to say so. Although almost everything mentioned is stuff I enjoyed as a kid. Eve being the exception as I was around 16 or 17 when they show was on air. JJ was indeed guilty of coonery, and over all the show had a very strong vibe of hopelessness. But somehow it's still enjoyable. Even with the notorious Cabrini-Green project housing as a setting.

NY Undercover was one of the better shows of that decade, and then they shat all over that with the last season. I actually remember them making reference to that in a movie that unfortunately I do not remember the name of assuming I ever knew it.

Assuming I ever get a chance to meet you, you think I could watch your copy of Strapped? The BET version is the only version I've ever seen. Sometimes I like the edited versions though if just for the ridiculous novelty of how Snoop can sound like Phil Lamaar in the TV version of Baby Boy. That's another major reason why I archive material, I dislike editing of
content. I also am not crazy about commercials, I understand why they are
needed, but if that is the case then I will pay for my programming.

A show that truly illustrates the point; my Mother discovered the Sopranos
on A & E. It was so edited for content and language that it was a totally
different show from it's original airing on HBO.

Another example was AMC which used to satisfy my old movie cravings. They

RadioOne, with Catherine Hughes as owner and chairperson.

Radio One owns 70 radio stations in nine major markets in the U.S. In 1999,

I did find one that I don't even remember making. I will archive it to cd - .mp3,

Hulk Hogan easily had the most laughable roles of any wrestler. But it was nice to see he didn't take hinself too seriously. But I could easily say The Rock is a better actor than any other wrestler I can think of. ( I've never seen Antonio Inoki act. >_> )

It's my fault for not caring about Hallmark Holidays. Didn't realize this was Independence weekend until booking hotel and rates were $400+/night, *face palm* If you're in DC, look for me taking long meandering walks, hoping all models arrive on schedule and ready for raunchiness! lol

Indeed, I got stuck in Snowmeggon in DC for 4 hours just going from one side of town to the other, and that didn't include the 3 1/2hr drive just getting to the city. I was irked that day to say the least.

This time hopefully will be much better, especially once I hit Valet and stretch these legs, like Armstrong. :p

I love Sons of Anarchy and it's ensemble cast. I didn't start watching until the 3rd season and have been back tracking trying to gather the previous seasons. Will end up having to hit Best Buy and buying the first two I think. I love seeing Peggy from Married With Children in bad ass mode.

I would say that I was a card-carrying "True Blood" fan, but now that Sookie

What I find funny about SoA is when the actor playing Jax is doing an angry voice, his accent slips. I didn't know he was English until I looked it up after noticing how funny he sounded when he got mad during a certain scene.

I haven't watched anything on HBO since the last season of The Life and Times of Tim. I hope there's a 3rd season, I was actually enjoying the way his character was starting to actually man up during certain moments.

With regards to source material, I was not a fan of the Sookie Stackhouse books, but rather the Anita Blake Vampire Huntress series of books by Laurell K Hamilton. The general idea of the paranormal creatures being common place is the same, main character is a Necromancer instead of a Fairy and Anita is more "kick ass" to Sookie "talking about kicking ass". I was thinking more along the lines of Laurence Fishburne in Hoodlum and probably something else I might be missing. I really don't have a lot of exposure to these films. To the point where I haven't seen any of The Godfather movies. Although to be honest I don't really care if I do or not. Since I have Battles Without Honor And Humanity.

I think you'd scare people away walking around with a Tommy Gun in hand. haha I forgot about that Hoodlum movie lol

My first exposure to Gangster films were with my dad who would force me to watch Spaghetti westerns, and old black and white war and gangster movies. The war movies were the only ones that I liked until I caught the first Godfather by which time I was a pre-teen and could better appreciate what 'dad' was trying to put me on to. So while I'm in the more modern cinema camp for gangster films, I have a wide collection of good films from Godfather series to Road to Perdition and a whole lot in between and beyond.

CT, as you are aware "Hoodlum" was based on the real life Harlem gangster
Ellsworth “Bumpy” Johnson.

Madame Queen as portrayed by Cicely Tyson was also based on the real life
female gangster Stephanie St. Clair.

The story of Stephanie St. Clair begins with her birth in the eastern caribbean on the island of Marseilles. According to passed-down stories, St. Clair reportedly told people that she was born in “European France” and was able to speak “flawless French,” as opposed to the less-refined French spoken by those in the Caribbean. She was known to speak in French when cursing people out.

Moving to Harlem in 1912, St. Clair was known for her deep involvement in the New York gangster underworld. Through her connections, St. Clair developed the first numbers bank, located in Harlem. There, she and her partners, including Ellsworth “Bumpy” Johnson, made the first significant criminal fortunes in black New York's early 1930s.

When the depression hit, white mobsters would turn to Harlem’s illegal gambling scene for a profit, meaning St. Clair and her gangster crew. They would run across resistance, mainly from Dutch Schultz, a gang leader who wanted to take the streets back. The result was a bloody war with St. Clair and her allies for control of organized crime in Harlem. Over 40 people were killed in street gang violence, mostly the numbers operators.

St. Clair's story was a likely one. She would later be harassed by police for going public by naming cops she paid kickbacks to. She would have to give control to the Italian mafia and Lucky Luciano, who eliminated Dutch Schultz. They, in turn, made Bumpy Johnson the head of the Harlem mobs, and St. Clair left the mob scene. She died in 1969.

I was aware of the Bumpy Johnson info but, I didn't know about St. Clair at all. That's interesting to know. There's actually an RPG for PS2 that portrays the 1920's mob scene for a short bit. At one point you have to break into Alcatraz to get to Capone, Elliot Ness also appears. They portray Capone as a rather handsome charismatic gangster, contrary to his real life looks. ( No accounting for tastes I suppose but dammit... he wasn't good looking at all. )

When watching the film American Gangster, I wasn't particularly happy with Cuba Gooding's portrayal of Nicky Barnes... maybe because I find him to be less threatening than Bryant Gumble trying to swat me with cotton swabs... ( Which is kinda threatening when I think about it because it means he's fucking crazy. ) But I was just not sold on it. I did like Denzel's portrayal but, he plays damn near any role well.

I acquired a movie called Green Street Hooligans the other day. I haven't seen an abundance of British films but I've liked all the ones I have seen. This is no difference. I decided to give it a look after checking IMDB and seeing the actor who plays the lead on Sons of Anarchy was in it. It also stars Elijah Wood, who I often confuse with Tobey Mcguire... Except as my friend put it, Elijah Wood is a better actor. It's worth a look, it takes a look into the life of a Football Hooligan ( I refuse to call it Soccer when it's pertaining to a European country. ) and one Yank's adjustment to such a life as well as the effect it has on those around him. I'd recommend it, I'm leaving out a lot of course so I don't spoil anything, but there's plenty of drama and action, and a bit of humor as well.

I forgot about it until you just mentioned GSH. I'm not sure will have to search my archives. I bought a store copy of the original but I think I downloaded the sequel so I have a lot of searching to do lol. If I can't find it I will be going to buy a copy though. Both are equally good, though Elijah isn't in the sequel, just deals with the other members that end up in jail as the first movie ends. Still, a good movie and continuation of story in my opinion.

Yeah it sounds like it'd be good. I've always been interested in " aftermath " movies. It does suck that the main two characters of the first film would be nowhere to be seen though.

This conversation reminds me that I need to see the sequel to Once Were Warriors again.

Dude, I had that movie on VHS, totally forgot Elijah was the 'good' kid in that movie. lol I liked the Home Alone movies, but I was able to sympathize with the 'home alone' concept.

I didn't get into Bones until the 4th season sadly and that was a great disservice to an awesome show. I avoided it mainly because I didn't care for that Angel and Buffy show and same actor in each. I thought the productions too campy, though I loved the Buffy movie. lol Also, those other shows monster makeup/effects seemed too cheap/low budget, though it was better by the time Angel aired.

Michael DeLorenzo played Dt. Eddie Torres in NY Undercover. ;)

He's had small one episode roles in various tv shows/tv movies almost every year since the NY Undercover days. The City of Gods, is a new movie he stars in that looks somewhat decent but hasn't been released yet. He also has a movie in post production called Death Method though it's an ensemble film, and he doesnt make the cut for the large print on the box cover which is usually a BAD SIGN (inside joke)

I liked the first two Home Alone movies but I wouldn't say that was Culkin's finest work. I mean, he was just being a kid. But in The Good Son he was a twisted little shit, which was a FAR cry from the Home Alone character. So I still think his performance in that movie was amazing.

I used to watch Buffy and Angel, oddly enough I avoided watching them for like 2 years simply because I felt that Buffy would pale in comparison to the movie... But then I watched it one night and uh... I kept watching. I couldn't really turn away from Michelle Flanagan... It's one of the reasons I watched that awful Date Movie.

I remembered Lorenzo and De... but in the wrong order. Thanks though.

Honestly I think it's too bad he doesn't get many prominent roles of that sort. I think he'd play villainous characters very well.

Hmm, I haven't played enough PSP games to really say. But I didn't have much of a problem with what I did play. Which were mainly Final Fantasy games and Phantasy Star Portable.

I played the demo about 20 times a couple of months ago. So now I have to go out and get a copy.

If you liked Macaulay Culkin in the "Good Son" which was a great movie,
you will love him in the "Party Monster", which is the true story of
Michael Alig, a Club Kid party organizer whose life was sent spiraling down
when he bragged on television about killing his drug dealer and roommate.

eh, I don't understand what 'bucket' means. I have heard the term 'buck naked' many of times, but why the need for a new 'bucket naked' term is beyond me. I watched the video twice (not for the TnA :p ) to try and understand if there is a specific reason for this new term, seems like only ignorance though, which plagues so much of the Hip-Hop community. Is it just me or is the video cut short at the end, sounds like Remy Ma was about to go in on her verse and then it goes black...

Also, what is up with the term 'Official Tissue'. I use Charmin, but if Hip Hop is producing TP now Johnson and Johnson need to watch out. :p lol I've yet to have anyone make sense of that term for me either. It's like they are just using words because they rhyme, never mind they have no real sense being used together in that context. This was on a flyer for a party, and I guess it was the Official Tissue. I tell you what, I don't care what kind of tissue they use in club restrooms, I'm not using any restroom where drunks have tried aimlessly to go pee at. Pun intended. :o
