Last two things: 1) Rio isn't what it used to be due to its rise in economic conditions and status in the world (Lula's reforms, Olympics, etc.) so the ho strolls are not what they used to be and 2) with our dollar being worth about 1.55 reais, you are going to spend about the same amount of money you would here in the US. If you pick a girl up on the street or in a disco don't go where she wants.Grab a cab and tell him to take you to nearest short time hotel. The short time motels are clean and cheap. A lot of the Brazilians pornos are filmed in them.
I met a girl on Copacabana outside a disco. There were two cops 50 feet from us while we kissed and fondled each other. Then we jumped in cab and went to hotel.
English aint spoken much. Learn some functional Portugeuese. Spanish is understandable and they speak a lot of Italian.
And on an unrelated subjects if you plan to party with locals take a nap in the evening before you go out, thats how they stay up all night. Oh and food is great and cheap too.
