If I've learned one things its that in life there are all types. I certainly wouldn't lose sleep over someone who has such a mentality, to each their own, we all individually know who we are as individuals, what our qualities are and what our intentions are with others.
I'm a black guy that used to only like white girls primarily in college, but as I matured I grew out of that mentality and realized I wouldn't want someone to judge me on that criteria alone, when there is so much more to me as a person than skin color.
I look back on that period of time and wonder how I was so naive and narrow minded. It wasn't just about preference but an ignorant stereotyping of black women, something I had to overcome in my mentality. There are plenty of successful, beautiful, well mannered African American women in this world.
The old adage of Dr. King still stands true. Judge me not on the color of my skin, but the content of my character.
No better words can be applied to such a mentality as I once had and that this individual still possesses.
If someone operated in this mentality in dealing with me as a black guy,
they wouldn't know I speak 3 languages (French, German, Italian) oh and by the way I'm learning Portuguese.
They wouldn't know i'm an extremely romantic individual who can appreciate a good sunset on the beach. :)
They wouldn't know I primarily listen to lounge/chill-out electronic music, stuff like Buddha Bar, Siddharta, Anjunadeep, Global Underground, look it up if you don't know what they are folks. :)
They wouldn't know I possess a deep, passionate interest in other cultures and graduated with a degree in History
But all of that is neither here nor there. With such a mentality they would just assume I'm a young black male looking to jack them for a couple of nickels.
That is the part that rubs me the wrong way, people can know absolutely nothing about you as an individual and what your values are but yet they can have these terrible assumptions about the kind of person you are because of your skin color.
I'm the furthest thing from some thug looking to jack someone, but to each their own is my motto in this varied world we live in.
