I was listening to an HIVinsite.org podcast on HIV infections within the transgender community.

It was scientifically concluded that 1/250 US citizens are now infected with HIV.

It was further concluded that 28% of all MTF transgender people are infected with the AIDS virus.

Finally, it was determined that 56% of all African-American MTF transgender people are already infected with the HIV virus. That's pretty close to saying that every other MTF transgender person within the black community , is HIV+.

* Of all members of the U.S. population recently diagnosed with AIDS, 63% are African-American men. Black folks are only 12% of the poplulation. We are therefore, over represented in the AIDS category...

* Also, AIDS is the leading cause of death for all African-American women between the ages of 25 and 34 years.
