It's reality. Most girls don't have the drive to do that and they don't want a boss. They will escort until the wheels fall off. Regardless of that, a few out of the majority have aspirations to do better but that doesn't mean society will let them. I do agree that TS girls (especially black) experience discrimination when trying to get a mainstream job, so they revert to more self employed endeavors - escorting, cosmetology, etc. I can't blame them for not taking it as a side hustle. For some, its their only way to make money.

    But there are other factors....

True story and I can vouch for it all day. Years ago, I met a t-girl that was actually in college. Not one of the usual girls who say that as a front, I mean I've been to the dorm she stayed in, saw her graduate, the degree and everything. She had a rare opportunity to excel in the "real" world and not fall into the vices of prostitution and so on. She graduated and became a music teacher.

So.... not a year after she graduated, she felt the need to be around other tgirls - opposed to having been around college females for years (whom excepted her graciously might I add). The tgirls she started hanging with put negative thoughts in her head that she couldn't make it in the real world and before long, she had an eros add up and eventually lost focus of her job/goals for that lifestyle. This was a key example of a girl who "made it" and was dragged into the life just to fit in with others like her.

If you want to excel, you have to put yourself around people who have the same goals.

So what I'm saying is, there are a plethora of factors that may put girls into 24-7 escort mode.

1.) Some girls just decide they want to be escorts.

2.) Others may take escorting as a career because they don't want to work harder for a different lifestyle.

3.) Some girls will excel and may experience the crabs-in-the-barrel effect and loose focus.

4.) Some will try to excel and be shot down because they aren't passable or whatever to blend into the corporate workplace.

5.) Some will excel and the odds that most of us on this board will ever meet the ones that do and blend in, will be slim to none lol. Do you think you'd meet a Spellman alumni w/ a corporate job on the forums of BrownandRound.com?.....

I'm very long winded on these types of issues. There are girls out there that have entirely different perspectives/experiences of the world. If that's really what you want, we as men have to change our environment to obtain that....

.....but instructing a TS escort on how they should treat their career choices is futile, even though you have the best intentions and I think you do. I've did it for years.
An excellent post, I hope that the women as well as the men get to read it.

I like to feel that I am not an enigma, that there are many other women like me.

I am a Black woman who is educated, degreed, and work in corporate America.
I have never allowed the demographics of being Black, a woman, or trans,
keep me from achieving any of my goals, and I transitioned way before there
was any trans legislation to protect or the Internet to guide me.

People in the real world, and online that know me, often ask why do I post on
sites like this, ones that are porn oriented. After all "When you dance with
the Devil, He doesn't change. He changes you", as was illustrated by Dirty
South's story of the woman who left corporate America to escort.

And by no means is this a condemnation of the sex trade, I do not feel that
porn or escorting is morally or ethically wrong, but rather I wish that
transwomen would know that they are capable of working in any occupation
    they choose.

In churches that I belong to, I prefer those that do outreach and missionary
work. I prefer ones that aren't just preaching to the choir.

Yes this is a porn forum, but sometimes it is the only resource that some
women, and most men will ever have on transsexuality, and I would hope
that both genders will realize that transwomen are capable of doing anything
    they set their minds to.

Thanks. You make a very good point also and have a rare way of thinking. You acknowledge that the TS community needs to take responsibility for their choices and not blame their shortcomings in society on everyone else.

You are totally right about the forums. There are very few places you can go to voice your opinion as a TS. I would like to get more TS on here, (escorts/entertaners and other walks of life) that can debate an issue seriously without pointing the finger at everyone but themselves or living in barbie land, thinking they are perfect beings.

I doubt any of these girls grew up thinking "I wanna be an escort when I grow up!". Anybody is capable of doing anything they set their minds to. I love the sex industry, don't get me wrong, but it's too many girls running around here blaming the industry and tainting it rather than living up to their own mistakes. We all experience discrimination in some way as we try to come up, but its those of us who really shine that don't take the discrimination as a crutch to explain our set backs in life.
