HIV infection within the Trans Black Community

I was listening to an HIVinsite.org podcast on HIV infections within the transgender community.

It was scientifically concluded that 1/250 US citizens are now infected with HIV.

It was further concluded that 28% of all MTF transgender people are infected with the AIDS virus.

Finally, it was determined that 56% of all African-American MTF transgender people are already infected with the HIV virus. That's pretty close to saying that every other MTF transgender person within the black community , is HIV+.

* Of all members of the U.S. population recently diagnosed with AIDS, 63% are African-American men. Black folks are only 12% of the poplulation. We are therefore, over represented in the AIDS category...

Scary, but good info. For various reasons, including some of the statistics KB just noted, I've had to think long and hard about gettin' it in even though I stay strapped up with latex. I, like all of you, have a lot to live for and a nut, no matter how good it is, ain't worth dying over and rubbers do bust. I agree...I learned in school there are three types of lies:

2)Damn Lies

I know some people who think Magic Johnson should be dead! They cited the whole Magic Johnson, Arthur Ashe fiasco as a hoax by the very conservative Reagan administration, to scare black people from having babies which in turn will keep them off the public assistance rolls.
Now these aren’t rooty poot people that are saying these things either, this has been flying around in black communities for over twenty years. They cite a number things since Magic supposedly got the virus:
1. The plan was started when Ronald Reagan took office as the president. The Republicans felt that under his watch that they would curb the debauchery that was scourging America, mainly drugs and out of control sex. Drugs in the eighties were out control; people were smoking inordinate amounts of marijuana, snorting and free-basing cocaine unabated. They felt the Carter administration didn’t do enough to check this repugnant behavior which had its advent during the so-called Disco era. They felt they needed a policy to stop drug use with stepped police powers to stop drugs, but they needed local programs in place to heighten community involvement and awareness. That is when they came up with “brilliant idea” of the Just Say NO program! Spearheaded by First Lady Nancy Reagan, they went was to every urban city in the country, touting “Don’t do Drugs” to school children. Yet, it was in Reagan’s second term; Oliver North was caught peddling guns to the Sandinistas for drugs! During the mid eighties, which was Reagan’s second term, free basing had morphed into crack and was running rampant in African American communities. Minister Farrakhan of the Nation of Islam noted that we knew where the guns went, but where did the drugs go? They went right to African American communities all over the country! This is where that urban legend proliferated.
2. Reagan’s other plan was to stem the tide of minorities who were disproportionately unemployed in the early eighties when he took office, off the public entitlement rolls, such as welfare and ADC (Aid to Dependent Children)! Their sinister plan was to use the AIDS virus as a fear mechanism. Now HIV was first discovered in the Western Hemisphere in Canada, in the city of Montreal’s gay community. There was need for concern because the virus was spreading with no way of accurately treating it and it was killing these gay men. Now HIV is an insidious virus that knows no boundaries, it can infect ANYONE; men, women, young, old, straight or gay, white and black. Since black men made up a large portion of the unemployment rolls, they had to find a way to keep black people from having sex and having babies to keep them off public assistance. In Reagan’s first term, the plan was put into action, but they needed a spokesperson to put the plan in action. They needed a person that the black community respected and revered. Arthur Ashe had retired from professional tennis after a long and prized career in that sport. Arthur Ashe had had a heart attack and was hospitalized for a long period of time due to the complications. While he was infirmed he acquired HIV from a blood transfusion, he was devastated because his wife had presented him with a baby girl. The Reagan administration tried to tap him as the National HIV/AIDS spokesperson. His duties were to travel the country, specifically in the urban (black) areas and expound the virtues of SAFE SEX. Ashe, knowing he had been dealt a bad serve by getting the disease and not by sexual means, reneged. He said if he was going to die, he wanted to be with his family and watch his new daughter grow. Sadly, he died a few years later.
3. Enter Magic Johnson! Everybody within the NBA circles knew Magic was the man; he had an extensive black book! Magic was screwing chicks in every city of the NBA. Guys from other teams kept in touch with Magic on a regular basis to have him hook them up whenever they when to any NBA city! The shock felt around the world came in November, 1991 when it was discovered that Earvin “Magic” Johnson had contracted the AIDS virus. The concocted PR was that Magic was fuckin’ everything but a knothole of a tree! Magic retired from pro basketball immediately! Soon after that, President George HW Bush, who was Ronald Reagan’s Vice President, chose Magic to be the National spokesman for AIDS. The policy plan was completed. The urban myth proceeds because Magic’s wife and new born son were devoid of the disease. By what they’ve told public about the virus and past national (Actor Rock Hudson died of AIDs and he was gay) events, Magic should be pushing up daisies. And to show us all if they’ve kept him alive with drugs, why is it taking so long for the rest of the world to be cured? Since he supposedly acquired the virus, Magic’s weight has soared close to 300 pounds! Most people who have acquired the disease have withered away and died!
Now you don’t have to believe a word I’ve written. I didn’t believe it until I got to thinking about it very intently. Black people are still having children out of wedlock, but the HIV numbers are still rising in the black community, which is a great anomaly since whites are having unprotected sex in large numbers and having babies (figure Sarah Palin’s daughter), but they abort them four to five times more than in the black community, which skewers the data. All your TV sitcoms, dramas and reality shows are centered on sex, yet blacks end up on the short end of stick with STDs and life threatening diseases. There are sites on the net right now that touts cum-sucking and cream pie and they just happen to be white, in most cases! So why is the data for STDs and other infectious diseases higher in the black community than white? Who’s controlling that PR? Some black people don’t trust doctors because of past historical events; the Tuskegee experiment and the study of black women having more incidents of hysterectomies than white women; these are de facto events of genocide. Yet the word is out there, the genie is out of the bottle, Pandora’s box is open; Wrap it up, do the prudent thing, trust your instincts and don’t risk you life! I just thought I’d give you something to think about! I have!

Well I assume they got it from one of the hundreds of clients they entertain, who probably got it from another escort. Being selective only goes so far cause the escort thats giving head behind the dumpster in a alley could very well be negative and the beautiful clean looking girl working at the department store that doesnt escort could very well be positive. No one knows the real stats cause so many people havent or refuse to get tested. But of the reported cases alone they say d.c. has numbers worse than west africa so i know its bad. Be safe and be sure if 10 min of pleasure is worth a life of pain.
