Hmm... I'm not a huge fan of werewolves or vampires really. But I might give it a look see on your recommendation. The lack of yankii media these days is getting to me though. I don't exactly expect it here in USA but god dammit I want some. Then again that's probably why I just make my own... No one knows what I'm talking about...

I may eventually grab the Stackhouse books just to see where it all began, but I'm a die-hard fan of the show regardless.
I have the 1st season of Boardwalk Empire and enjoyed it a lot. I'm a fan of the "gangster" genre and the Prohibition era, just call me your Girl Anachronism.

Did 'BE' get picked up for a second season?
Didn't realize that the series was based on Sookie Stackhouse books. I will
watch True Blood, On Demand to get caught up, and get a better grasp of the
show.
I'm a huge fan of the "gangster genre" as well, so there's yet another thing
we have in common.
And here's a teaser for Boardwalk Empire - Season 2.

I can't say I'm a huge fan, mainly due to lack of exposure, but I certainly do like the old time gangster films that I have seen. I might give this show a look when I can too.

No clue, lol I did search and found references on the awesome site DeviantArt and also a reference on Japanese news site. As those two sources gave different impressions, I'd like to hear what you have to say on the subject matter.

When you say "old time", do you mean Bogart, Robinson, Cagney, Garfield,
Muni, et al., or by "old time" are you meaning DeNiro, Pacino, Pesci, Chazz
Palminteri?

I was thinking more along the lines of Laurence Fishburne in Hoodlum and probably something else I might be missing. I really don't have a lot of exposure to these films. To the point where I haven't seen any of The Godfather movies. Although to be honest I don't really care if I do or not. Since I have Battles Without Honor And Humanity.
I was talking more about the style of things though, mobster movies and media and what not. I always liked the Pinstripe suit and Tommy Gun look. To a point where I would, if I could afford it, walk around like that on any given day.

I think you'd scare people away walking around with a Tommy Gun in hand. haha I forgot about that Hoodlum movie lol
My first exposure to Gangster films were with my dad who would force me to watch Spaghetti westerns, and old black and white war and gangster movies. The war movies were the only ones that I liked until I caught the first Godfather by which time I was a pre-teen and could better appreciate what 'dad' was trying to put me on to. So while I'm in the more modern cinema camp for gangster films, I have a wide collection of good films from Godfather series to Road to Perdition and a whole lot in between and beyond.
