Homicide victims as criminals; because they’re gay and transgendered: A complete travesty! I know some on this board think I have a predilection for rubbing people the wrong way, which is their quandary, but I’ve written about intolerance of life that we live on this board, so many times. It could have been any one of us that this crime could have happen to.
I’ve written about Boots’ murder and even a transgendered person that had to fight city hall to open a transgendered club, on her own property; from all accounts it was the intolerance of the city fathers that didn’t want that enterprise, no way shape or form! Terrible intolerance!
Some will say this is a porn site, what does intolerance have to do with the ‘price of tea in China’? Well, when there is intolerance in the world, truth can run askew to lies and abject ignorance; The Reverend Martin Luther King said tolerance should prevail because “Truth displays no man is greater than another man!”
Ask John McCain as he had to correct a woman who thought Barack Obama was Muslim! She had it firmly in her mind that Muslims were dangerous and couldn’t be trusted. That’s intolerance of the worst kind: Prejudice!
Sadly, America has a history of intolerance from slavery; unfounded hatred of Americans of African descent; to the near eradication of Native Americans, the internment of Japanese Americans during World War II, to the treatment of Middle Eastern citizens after that terrible day in September, 2001. I have live through the intolerant killing of a Chinese man, because his killers thought he was Japanese and the cause of their losing their automotive jobs!
There have always been physical assaults on gays and transgendered persons because of inane manifestation of thought by some people of an imagined threat to themselves; to some men it is a threat to their manhood. How deep is that thinking? We as a nation, are a long way from eradicating hate, in any form!
However, to illustrate how far and deep intolerance can travel, The Indy Star, a newspaper, which everyone perceives to be a clarion call for fair and balance treatment of citizens against tyranny of the government and certain intolerable groups, played an crucial part in portraying victims as law breakers! The printed word has much to do with the spreading of hate and indifference as an out right lie of a rumor! Printing their arrest records goes beyond the pale of protecting a victim’s rights and objective carriage of justice for all! Unbelievable!!! If you are a concerned person, you should rebutt the Indy Star and let them know how you feel about their intolerant positon! I did! (www.indystar.com)
My thoughts and commiseration are to the families of the two murder victims.
