No it wasn't. It's where one cleric sentenced some women to death as part of a tribal battle - the footage had been taken 3 yrs before, the PROPER authorities took charge and checked it out. Don't tell one side of a story.

And this is pretty much my point. Does shaun have some merrit, yes. But all of that shit gets lost when he goes on a 38 minute all western culture, morals, and values are evil and oppressive schpiel.

He talks about how evil our culture is and how cnn is a cover up but I point out the hypocricy of him being allowed to say all that shit on a website like this from (presumably) the comforts of a very western habitat on a very western computer.

The fact that "tribal councils" often pass such repulsive sentences does not in any way lessen the gravitas of this type of religious bullshit; the so-called "state", even assuming it is "progressive" (which is a pretty fucking big assumption in the case of pakistan), struggles to maintain order in large old testament type societies... This is especially so in the rural and remote areas.... whiiiiiiiich is about 92% of its land.

Still, I have a feeling that vulnerable groups in places like Pakistan would rather we didn't give their nasty old men an even break, whether those old men are "state" or rural/tribal leaders... Their biblical/quoranic influence has devastating effects on vulnerable groups, regardless of the political legitimacy of their laws and sentences...

No... That's stupidity (which is often mistaken for bravery)

Primarily, people have to STAND UP in their own land for their own freedoms (just as our ancestors did in the west)... If people in "biblical" parts of this planet are too chicken-shit/cowardly to stand up against repulsive practises against vulnerable groups, then I certainly don't believe a single American/British boy or girl should risk injury fighting on their behalf.

However, courtesy of the blood, tears and sweat that have been spilled in the west fighting for freedom of expression, we are practically OBLIGED to SCREAM about the glaring injustices that befall vulnerable groups in many parts of this planet....

Unfortunately though, many "liberals" in the west would rather shriek about percieved injustices in their own backyard; I think they do so in the belief that it somehow affords them some kind of maverick intellectual status, whereas really, for the most part, they are self-loathing bourgeois cretins consumed with middle-class guilt.... It be a fact that "women", or certain other "groups", are "under-represented" in NASA... But you know what?... That's reeeeeeeeally not exactly a top priority in terms of the spritual integrity of this PLANET as a whole...

I shouldn't be too hard on pakistan though: I read that at the weekend a dating couple were arrested and on the way to the police station they were paraded through the streets naked...

They were guilty of indulging in sexual acts outside of wedlock

This represents a massive upturn in the wonderful tolerance of the pakistani peoples: usually, such a couple would be beaten half to death, and the woman probably murdered, or at the very least had acid thrown in her face (as befalls many Afghanistani girls who have the audacity to attend school because they have a desire to learn how to read and write, the filthy infidel whores!)

So, no, I wont be flying to any shithole biblical/monotheistic kuntry now or any time in the near future just to tell them about their nasty medieval selves...

But I WILL take any and every opportunity to shout about such things as: the mortality rate of female babies being TWICE as high as male babies, and how young girls are held down while their clitoris and labia is SLICED off then laced up to create a fleshy "chastity belt" for her husband, and how women accused of adultery/promiscuity (even in cases of RAPE for fucks sake) can be buried up to their waists and stoned to death, and how gay people are systematically murdered etc etc...

My freedom compels me to do so, and mindless knee-jerk accusations of "imperialism" and "colonialism" and "racism" and all the other painting-by-numbers rebukes that "western liberals" shriek, hoping that they are parading their own liberal credentials at others expense, are pretty meaningless.

If you were a 12 year old girl about to be betrothed to a 55 year old man who already has 3 wives, or a gay boy being married off to his first cousin, wouldn't you want someone to write about how SHITTY that culture is, even if it's on a Porn site forum?
