How do you know that a lot of people are not happy all the time with their content? Are you aware of their sites member counts? Do you have purview to their customer feedback on each of those sites? It all just seems like speculation really. If their sites are not to your taste there are many other solo sites, Bailey Jay, Domino, that do cater more to what you are looking for.

These solo site models you mentioned make the content they like to make, and that their fans like to see, it's what works for them.
